San Francisco Airport "Taxicab Starters"
These people are the most useless group of workers at SFO. And totally incompetent !!
The Starters are the individuals who wear the green jackets that you see at each Terminal controlling the movement of Cabs at curbsde pick-up. All they do is keep the Cabs moving from Terminal to Terminal to pick-up customers. And even at that, they still can't quite get the flow done properly.
There are about 150 cabs at any given time in a pool below the parking garage. As needed, they are brought out to the terminals. Yet, they have no idea, after all these years, as how many to bring up to avoid a back-up of customers.
Here's an example. Tuesday started the MacWorld convention at the Mascone Convention center. Now, they know that the morning in bound Airlines (Monday morning) would be packed with customers wanting Cabs to SF. Rather than planning ahead and getting additional cabs out of the lot, they wait till the crowds start showing up for Cabs. Now, totally out of control there ends up lines of people of about 75 waiting on cabs to comeout of the garage lot. And we are the ones who the customers complain about "lack of cabs" Yet, in the garage there are at least 150 cabs wanting to get going.............
Not sure who trains the Starters. But it is very apparent that no one does. These people just show up for work and collect paychecks. And we are the ones who work with high lease costs. No guaranteed income.
